Handbridge is a short walk from Chester city centre across the old bridge, and the housing reflects its age: period terraces on the streets behind, larger houses nearer the river, and a conservation feel through much of it. Older properties mean narrower doorways and staircases that need care.
The access question is a real one. The roads around Handbridge are busy, some are narrow, and the routes in and out cross the river at pinch points that back up at peak times. We plan the approach and the timing together rather than treating them separately.
